This years event was kept local and held at Ravenscrof School in Barnet.
With the sun shining brightly, we had a beautiful day for this year’s samaj gathering. Entitled “Independence Day Get Together” to mark the occasion of Indian Independence, about 100 members got together to make the event a memorable day.
With full use of the fields events were organized for all age groups:
The kids had a bouncy castle to bounce themselves silly. Children’s games such as sack race, egg and spoon races were also held with some very amusing moments!
Five a side football was also organized and the youngsters who attended had a good time. It was good to see younger samaj members join in with the “oldies” to try and bend the ball like Beckham!
Traditional desi games were also introduced and no one needed extra encouragement to join in!
Along with this, there was cricket, with some of our Indian ladies showing that cricket is not just a man’s game. Off course it would not be the same if our ladies did not conduct a satsang and spice it up with some Antakshari!
Food was plentiful from Farahar, Mumbaiya wada pau and bhel. Farahar was donated by City Sweet mart for our members who were fasting (sharvan maiyno). The committee would like to thank them for their generosity.
A big thank you to everyone who attended as well as those who helped in set up and run the event.
