BARDAI BRAHMIN SAMAJ LONDON Presidents Message BARDAI BRAHMIN SAMAJ LONDON
Dear Members We have started another year with new committee, who have very high hopes and aspiration to provide you all with a fun filled year of events. Sadly, their desire to organise events, is however quickly dashed due to non-support from the community. Our organisation in the early days flourished as a result of the whole hearted support and backing received from the community members. I have to commend these individuals who join the working committee, for having the optimism and desire to maintain the momentum. However as experienced in the previous years, these members have sad faces as time progresses, due to lacklustre support and attendance, and for some not to stay on the working committee the following year. Apologies for my pessimism, if we as a samaj do not wake up and revive Bardai Brahmin Samaj London, the outlook is very bleak, therefore my request to you all, is provide your support and make 2019 a year to remember when this dying samaj was brought back to life by your support. Best wishes Jai Shri Krishna! Jai Shri Trikamjibapu! Bhasker Dave

In an exhilarating eight goal thriller to round off an exciting and entertaining day at this year's BBSL five-a-side football tournament, Team Jai triumphed in a closely challenged encounter with Team Rajkot Rovers to put to ease any lingering disappointment from last year's final defeat.

With little separating the two teams before kick-off and with both teams having defeated every opponent they encountered on route towards glory, Jai and Rajkot Rovers deserved their place in this year's final.

The match began under clear blue skies and the intense heat of the summer sun. After early exchanges Rajkot Rovers looked to gain the upper hand as Jigar unleashed a strong left foot shot, only to be denied superbly by Sundip with a save low to his right.

However, it didn't take long for the eager crowd to witness the first goal of the match. The ball broke loose in the centre of the pitch and was picked up by Milan who bore down on goal, jinked past the last defender and smoothly slotted home into the bottom left corner as Jai took a 1-0 lead.
Buoyed by the early breakthrough, Jai quickly doubled their lead when Captain Jay dispossessed the defender outside Rajkot Rovers' penalty area before calmly side footing into the back of the net.

With a seemingly steep uphill struggle ahead after conceding a 2-0 lead early on, Rajkot Rovers remained composed and began to play with the flair and verve they had displayed earlier in the tournament. It was a flowing passage of play that drew a foul and won a free kick near the centre of Jai's half. Aum took the opportunity to take the free kick quickly as he powered in low to make it 2-1 and reduce Rajkot Rovers' deficit to one goal.

Keeping to their natural game plan, Rajkot Rovers gained a solid foothold in the game by maintaining pressure in the immediate aftermath of their first goal. It was a foray towards Jai's goal that saw them awarded a penalty as Kalpesh was adjudged to have played the ball inside his own penalty area by the referee. Aum stepped up and dispatched a low shot with the goalkeeper sent in the wrong direction, and equalised for Rajkot Rovers.

Having lost their two goal cushion, Jai were determined to restore their advantage with Minesh hitting the post after being put through on goal by Kalpesh. Jai were then awarded a free-kick on the right after a foul on Milan. Kalpesh spotted Milan's run behind the defence and played a quick through ball. Milan latched onto it and beat Kamlesh from a tight angle at the near post to make it 3-2 to Jai. Not content with sitting back on their lead, Jai pressed for the fourth but saw efforts from Saajan and Minesh thwarted by the Rajkot Rovers goalkeeper.

Rajkot Rovers almost equalised in a counter-attacking move as Aum found the ball at his feet outside of the Jai penalty area only to have his shot blocked by a last gasp tackle by Kalpesh. Nonetheless, it didn't take long for Rajkot Rovers to get their equaliser as a deflected shot fell to Jigar on the edge of the area and he buried the ball into the top corner to make it 3-3.

It was at this point, however, that Jai took the game away from Rajkot Rovers with goals from Jay and Sagar. The first of the two saw fine link up play when Sagar's pass found Jay through on goal and he coolly scored again with a dinked finish into the bottom corner. With very little time left on the clock, Sagar took the ball in a solo effort towards the right corner and fired a shot in off the post to seal the victory for Jai. Play had barely resumed when before Rajkot Rovers could regroup the referee blew the final whistle with the match ended at 5-3 to Jai.
